Holiday Tenant Event

Ms. Lyons calls from a downtown San Francisco high rise office building. The building management wants to have a tenant appreciation event in the building's lobby in early December. This will also include the availability of information kiosks regarding the new safety and security programs installed within the building.

The building management wants to have a group of carolers singing during the time when food will be available. The thoughts are for cookies with a beverage.

We discuss various cookies that might be a seasonal accompaniment and suggest warm cider and hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream available as toppings. This is agreed upon, we get a "feel" for the available budget for the event and a request for proposal is created.

Our "research" (investigation) determines that the original cookies thought of are not going to be compatible with the budget. B2B investigates other local companies that produce fresh cookies that can provide an assorted array of small cookie type items in a quantity to serve the large building population and still fit within the original budget.

Persistent phone calls to various companies found at the San Francisco Food Show produce the desired results... a selection of quality items in the desired quantities fitting the budget for the event.

On the day of the event the carolers arrive early to "warm up". The building has set-up 8' tables. B2B arrives with the beverages, cups, cookies, napkins and table coverings.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30. Tenants begin to return from lunch outside the building and others come downstairs from their offices. The carolers attract the attention of those passing through the lobby even if they are on a diet!!

One of the more significant benefits to the building management is that they are free and available to mingle with the tenants wherever the tenants may be tending to congregate at any particular time during the event. They are not "tied" to the serving area.

The building managers are also able to help on the serving line if there is a surge of people to be served beverages, thus giving them another face-to-face opportunity with the building's occupants.

This particular event was lightly attended considering the actual building population. When doing another event at this time of year, we would reduce quantities to reflect the fact that many people take vacation days for any number of reasons, thus reducing the total number of people actually populating the building.

Those tenants who did attend were delighted with the variety of cookies and the "over the top" beverage toppings that were available.
